1. Choose Love Even When Rejected (Verses 51-56)

As Jesus set out for Jerusalem to fulfill His mission, the Samaritans refused to receive Him. In anger, the disciples wanted to call down judgment, but Jesus rebuked them and moved on to another village. This reveals His heart of love and patience for salvation.

How do I react when someone rejects me?

Do I respond with anger, or do I seek to understand and guide them? What must I let go of for the sake of salvation?

2. Following Jesus Is Not About Worldly Success (Verses 57-58)

A man told Jesus he wanted to follow Him, but Jesus responded, “The Son of Man has no place to lay His head.” This means that the path of following Jesus is not one of comfort and worldly glory but of sacrifice and commitment. We must guard our hearts from being swayed by worldly success.

Why do I follow Jesus?

Am I seeking Him for personal gain, or am I truly committed to His path?

3. Make Following Jesus Your First Priority (Verses 59-62)

When Jesus called a man to follow Him, the man wanted to first take care of family matters. Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God must come first. As believers, we must distinguish between what is urgent and what is truly important, prioritizing God above all else.

What is my highest priority in life?

What is the most important thing I need to do today?

Prayer

Lord, at times, I have followed You while still longing for worldly success. Please forgive me for caring more about people’s opinions than about Your mission. Help me to focus on the work of salvation, to be fully devoted, and to remain faithful to Your calling. Amen.
