Jesus’ Foretelling of His Departure (verses 28-31)

Jesus took Peter, John, and James up to the mountain to pray. While praying, His appearance was transformed and Moses and Elijah appeared, discussing His upcoming departure in Jerusalem. This event foretold Jesus’ death on the cross, which was necessary for humanity’s salvation.

  • What is the core message of the Gospel I’m sharing?
  • Am I communicating both the meaning of the cross and not just emphasizing blessings?

Human Weakness Amid Glory (verses 32-33)

The disciples, overcome with fatigue, fell asleep but upon waking witnessed the Lord’s glory. Peter suggested building three shelters, revealing his desire to remain in the glory and avoid suffering. This shows the natural human tendency to seek comfort.

  • Where am I seeking comfort in my life right now?
  • Am I avoiding my mission in pursuit of comfort?

God’s Voice and the Path of Obedience (verses 34-36)

From the cloud came a voice: “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to Him.” When the voice ceased, the disciples saw Jesus alone. This teaches us to focus solely on Jesus.

  • What is at the center of my life?
  • Am I focusing on worldly values or on Jesus?

Pray

Heavenly Father, I confess my weakness in wanting to remain in moments of glory. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and walk the path of the cross, even through difficulties. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
